Warner Brothers needs to gear up for the ire of some angry comic book movie fans.

With all of the issues surrounding some of Warner Brothers upcoming DC Comics feature films specifically Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Flash, fans still held out hope that some of their other releases would help the DC Films universe build back its audience. Unfortunately, the DC cinematic universe was dealt another blow.

According to Deadline and other sources, Warner Brothers is shelving the upcoming Batgirl solo film with no plans to release it either in theaters or on its streaming service HBO Max. The film is currently in the final stages of post production but rumors of poor test screenings and the movie not fitting into Warner Brothers’ plans for the DC universe might have led to the studio deciding to pull the plug on the production. Warner Brothers is said to be implementing a new policy where tentpole films with $90 million plus budgets are getting releases and Batgirl’s $70 million dollar budget did not make the final cut.

Batgirl stars Leslie Grace in the title role with Brendan Fraser playing the villain Firefly and Michael Keaton returning as Bruce Wayne aka Batman. The film was expected to be released in 2023.

What do you think? Were you excited for the release of Batgirl? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
