We got our first look at the cast of the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi today courtesy of Vanity Fair.
All of these photos were taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, who did a similar shoot before the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The first shot, titled “The Force” shows Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill as Rey and Luke Skywalker. In the trailer, Luke tells Rey that the Jedi must end. Will we learn his justification in The Last Jedi?
This next cover titled “The Dark Side” features Gwendoline Christie, Adam Driver and Domhall Gleeson as Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren and General Hux. With the destruction of Starkiller Base in The Force Awakens, where exactly do the members of the First Order end up at the beginning of The Last Jedi?
The next cover is titled “The Resistance”. It features Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran and BB-8 as Poe Dameron, Finn and Rose. The trailer shows some hard times coming to the Resistance in The Last Jedi and Poe has a definite Han Solo vibe going with his new costume. How will the resistance fight against Snoke and the First Order going forward?
The last cover is aptly titled “The Legacy” and features the late Carrie Fisher in her iconic role of Leia Organa. It will be interesting to see how they resolve the fate of this iconic character in The Last Jedi and how her legacy will factor into the next film.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters December 15, 2017.
