The X-Men are back to show the world what they were meant to be. Unfortunately, it’s a world that still harbors their enemies and hates their existence.

From a sprawling mansion to the upstairs of a bar, the X-Men are dealing with a new set of circumstances while Cyclops comes up with a plan. A plan that starts with a list of names. The names of every mutant extremist group and mutant villain he can think of including Cassandra Nova, Mr. Sinister, The Shadow King and more. The first name on the list is their first target, Dark Beast.

Magick transports them to a hidden base where they discover Jamie Madrox has been kidnapped again and Dark Beast experimented on his duplicates, fusing them with robotics. After liberating him, Madrox and the X-Men go after Dark Beast. When they track him down, they discover that his experiments didn’t stop with Jamie. He’s enhanced himself with cybernetics and a battle ensues.

At the same time, one of the groups on Scott’s list has decided to attack labs distributing the mutant vaccine and the media is calling them the X-Men.

Matthew Rosenberg is taking the X-Men down a dark path and every part of it is revelatory and entertaining. This new mission Scott is taking the mutants on is inspired and I cannot wait to see what happens with the mutants on this list and what they are working on in the absence of opposition. Dark Beast’s reveal is great, but I feel that there are bigger, more interesting things on the horizon.

Salvador Larroca’s art is magnificent. Everything from the character details to the action scenes looks amazing. The warehouse fight is a brilliantly done sequence that looks fantastic.
