The slate of live action remakes of classic Disney animated features continues with news that Oscar winner Tom Hanks is in talks to take a lead role in another classic in development.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Hanks is in talks to take on the role of Geppetto in a live action remake of Disney’s Pinocchio. Paul King, the director of the successful Paddington film is tapped to direct the feature that will follow the plot of the 1940 animated feature about a woodcarver who asks a magic fairy to make his latest creation into a real boy.

King is currently writing the script with Chris Weitz and fellow Paddignton collaborator Simon Farnaby.

Tom Hanks recently completed work on a Mr. Rogers biopic as the lead and will next be reprising his role as Woody in the upcoming Toy Story 4.
