The Rundown: The town throws a friendship festival to welcome mutants, but old sentiments threaten their good time.

Calico is sleepwalking after their encounter with Mutina and it is worrying Gambit and Rogue. At the same time, Nightcrawler is growing closer to Mackenzie and her family as she organizes the Friendship Fest to welcome mutants to the town. Kurt returns home to tell the others and the X-Men have to make a decision about whether they should go or not.
Rogue and the team decide to attend the festival in full X-Men attire and are surprised by how welcoming the locals are. As they have a good time and allow the kids to enjoy themselves, Wolverine finds himself confronting Vig who is actually there to stop a potential terrorist attack. When the local children’s hospital is set on fire, Vig joins the X-Men to rescue the trapped children and discover that more X-Men have arrived to help.
The Story: Simone crafts a fun, thrilling and thoroughly engaging story in this issue. I love the direction Simone continues to take the mutants and how the story allows them individual moments as well as great group moments between both the veteran X-Men and the new mutants. The story is filled with great moments of suspense as well for the characters as they enter unknown and possibly dangerous territory and the finale is filled with action, thrills and the beginnings of an interesting mystery.
The Art: Vecchio delivers stunning art throughout the issue. I love the character designs and how visually thrilling the action in the hospital was. A great looking issue from panel to panel.
