The Rundown: The family goes on the run, but they might not be able to escape Raina.
The family van crashes into the desert and Roland tries to get the family together to begin running. Richie ignores his father and tries to repair his mech suit. When Raina arrives, Rae attempts to plead with her aunt to stop trying to kill them. As she begins to break through, Richie arrives and the family goes on the run.
Unfortunately, Raina catches up to her family as the ones in the future are unable to open a portal to bring them back. With no more options, Roland surrenders to his sister and uses Richie’s suit to find a way to bring them both into the future, but he decides that there might be a third more dangerous option.
The Story: Tomasi crafts a thrilling, engaging story in this issue. I love the family dynamics at play throughout the story and there are some great surprises with the interaction between Rae and Raina. I really liked the buildup of tension and suspense throughout the story and everything culminates in a fantastic cliffhanger that was shocking and surprising.
The Art: Manapul creates beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. I love the visual style of this series and how wonderfully engaging the art is on every page.
