The Rundown: Sonja’s job protecting the future queen will expose her to dark forces.

Sonja and Princess Zaria have made it to Erkhara and the warrior continues to be on her guard as the princess takes in her surroundings. As the city prepares for the upcoming wedding, an assassin works to stop the ceremony with an arrow. Having failed in his mission, the killer goes on the run, but Sonja is hot on his heels. After cornering the assassin, Sonja discovers that the princess was not his target after all.

Sonja returns to the castle and the next morning finds herself back in action when an attempt is made on the princess’ life. As dignitaries gather for the pre-wedding feast, Sonja continues to stand guard. When an object of great value goes missing, there is an uproar and Red Sonja revels in the possibility of adventure.

The Story: Palmiotti and Conner inject this story with a lot of fun and adventure. I love everything about its structure, its humor and dialogue. Sonja is such a dynamic character and everything in this issue celebrates her strength. There is great action throughout the issue as well and the intrigue is engaging. I had a lot of fun being immersed in this adventure and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

The Art: Moritat delivers some stunning visuals throughout this issue. Everything from the characters to the rich backgrounds is immersive and visually stunning.
