Deron GenerallyTomorrow was supposed to be the official launch of the first trailer for the upcoming reboot of Hellboy. Fortunately for fan, the trailer leaked early and Lionsgate decided to release it today.
Hellboy creator Mike Mignola stated that this would be a darker take on the supernatural hero than previous iterations. That darker tone isn’t present in this first footage from the film. Instead, we get humor and action mixed in with glances at the story and conflicts. To its credit, it does show that the film is going to earn its R rating with the violence. It’s not a bad trailer overall, but it doesn’t really stand out as something compelling enough to get me in the theater opening weekend.
