The Rundown: Firestorm takes over a small town and the military brings in someone from his past to find out why.

A small town in Colorado gets a visit from Firestorm who walks the streets not talking to anyone until he begins changing everything and everyone in the town into living statues and more. The military pays a call to Lorraine Reilly who used to be the hero known as Firehawk.
After bringing her to Colorado, the military intends to have her go and speak to him using their formal personal relationship as a means of stopping him. Unfortunately, she realizes that the man standing before her isn’t the Ronnie Raymond that she knew and the other part of the Firestorm matrix, Dr. Martin Stein is missing.
The Story: Lemire crafts a dark, thrilling and interesting story in this first issue. There is a great mystery brewing at the heart of this story and I like seeing the different elements come together and the questions the story raises as well as the stakes. I like the subtle look behind the character and what Ronnie might actually facing and look forward to seeing what happens next.
The Art: De Latorre creates beautiful art throughout the issue. The visuals and the panels brilliantly capture and convey the tone and mood of the story.
