Stranger Things Season 2 Adds 80's Stars to Cast

With Stranger Things starting production on it’s second season, EW.com announced earlier today that the show has added three new cast members to it’s roster and the nostalgia is strong.

Linnea Berthelsen, a Danish actress, has been cast as Roman who is “an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab..” From the description, is it possible that Eleven isn’t the only gifted experiment still alive?

Sean Astin (The Goonies, Lord of the Rings Trilogy) will be playing Bob Newby, “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.” The potential implications of Astin’s character and his connection to our Season 1 alums could set him up for a larger role in Season 2.

Paul Reiser (Aliens, Whiplash) has been cast to the role of Dr. Owens, “a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year.” Reiser could possibly be the next “big bad” from the government in place of Dr. Brenner and if we have any experience with evil replacements it would seem Reiser’s character could be worse than Brenner.

Let us know what you think about the casting?

We return to Hawkins, Indiana for Stranger Things Season 2 on Netflix in 2017!
