Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins is taking to the stars with her upcoming foray into the world of Star Wars with Rogue Squadron and now it looks like the project is one step closer with the hiring of a writer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lucasfilm has hired Matthew Robinson to pen the script for the upcoming Rogue Squadron film.

Rogue Squadron tells the story of a group of Rebel pilots taking on dangerous missions for the freedom of the galaxy. According to Jenkins, the film will be an original story that will utilize elements from the books and games.

Matthew Robinson co-wrote and co-directed the Ricky Gervais comedy The Invention of Lying and is said to be hard at work on the script for Rogue One. This isn’t Robinson’s first foray into science fiction though as his credits also include 2020’s Love and Monsters. He has also been tapped to write the Edge of Tomorrow sequel Live Die Repeat and Repeat for Warner Brothers along with their remake of Little Shop of Horrors.
