The Rundown: Things get darker for the Federation as they attempt to hold onto their allies in the wake of the Burn.

Earth has left the Federation leaving Captain Sato and his ship as the last line of defense for holding onto the ideals of Starfleet. The former worlds of the Federation have decided to meet on Babel to discuss the possibility of re-creating the Federation with both allies and former enemies in order to mutually protect each other.

Representatives from across the galaxy meet to discuss what happened to their worlds and what they need from any alliance and everyone agrees that dilithium is the answer. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough and Sato will learn quickly that not only is scarcity an issue, but it creates something dark for those he once thought of as friends.

The Story: Lanzing and Kelly craft a dark, engaging story in this issue. I continue to be immersed in the events and the mounting issues facing the fledgling Federation. There is great drama and intrigue throughout this story and this issue features some great, dark moments for Sato and the crew. Things are getting really interesting and the story ends with an awesome cliffhanger that makes me excited to see what happens next.

The Art: Bonilla crafts some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the visuals of the Babel Conference a lot and the final pages are breathtaking.
