The Rundown: Speed learns a valuable lesson before he challenges Cranem to a rematch.

Since defeating Speed Racer on the track, Cranem has been winning multiple races for his team and his father’s engine. At the same time, Speed wants to get back onto the track and needs Pops to build him an engine to rival the one that beat them in the last race. Pops has other ideas and decides to teach his son some lessons in what being a driver really means.
Speed decides to use the lessons he’s learned and challenge Cranem to a rematch. As the two cars take to the track, the others racers fall away as Speed and Cranem go toe to toe to a finale that will challenge both drivers and could ultimately lead to tragedy for one of them.
The Story: Pepose crafts a thrilling, engaging and entertaining story in this issue. I love the focus and evolution of Speed and Pops relationship in the story and how their tension leads to great moments and a great lesson for the young racer. There is great action throughout the story as well and an interesting villain who not only gives Speed a run for his money, but also has a legitimate motivation for his actions. I love where this story ends and cannot wait for the next issue.
The Art: Tinto continues to craft beautifully detailed art that not only captures the great character designs and action, but is also a great mix of classic comic and anime art styles.
