The Rundown: Al is in the fight of his afterlife as he tries to protect Marc from the forces of Heaven and Hell.

As the forces of Hell attempt to kill Spawn after luring him there using Marc as bait, Spawn retaliates. Ready for this particular fight, Al takes them on and makes them pay as he helps Marc escape to their hidden base. When the forces of Heaven intervene led by The Redeemer, Spawn knows that this fight is far from over and getting more dangerous by the minute.

After his escape, Marc discovers that there is more to Al’s plans than he knew about and the revelations make him question exactly what he signed up for. With the world economy in free fall and the forces of Hell making bigger and bolder moves, Al is going to do something big if he wants to both win and find out who murdered Wanda.

The Story: Everything is getting more intense with Todd McFarlane pushing the character and the audience to the edge. The story continues to be compelling and entertaining and Al’s plan gets more intriguing with each issue. I am fascinated with how McFarlane is plotting this story and there are so many interesting and engaging twists and turns. It’s going to be even more interesting to see how all of these plot threads come together in the next issue and what that means for the character going forward.

The Art: Jason Shawn Alexander does amazing work with the art. All of the action is dynamic and gorgeous to look at. The action is beautiful and brutal. Alexander matches the tone of this story perfectly with the art.
