Unfortunately, Malcolm has his own issues when a drunk Maxine decides to make a scene at her own birthday party. When one of their friends shows up with a special gift for her, Maxine reveals a secret she’s been keeping from her husband.
When Malcolm meets up with Tootsie to confront Scourge, the villain seems remorseful for the destruction and death he’s caused. Unwilling to pay for his crimes, Malcolm’s next move with have deadly consequences and repercussions.
The Story: With all of the death and destruction featured in the beginning of this issue, I was impressed that Erik Larsen pulled back when Tootsie and Malcolm confronted him by having the moment become a conversation. I was not expecting and was pleasantly surprised by how Larsen concluded that moment and what he’s set up to come.
The Art: Larsen draws some beautiful, visceral visual moments throughout this issue. From the first fight to the final moment, Larsen is command of the story visually.
