Rad Rodgers: Radical Edition
After being sucked into the gaming world, Rad Rodgers and his foul-mouthed living game console Dusty set out on a totally awesome quest inspired by ‘90s classics like Commander Keen and Jazz Jackrabbit. Jump, run and gun across seven gorgeous, vibrant levels filled with action. Rad wields wicked weapons like Bolt Blasters and Phoenix Cannons to blast baddies. Dusty helps out by crossing into The Pixelverse, a behind-the-scenes area that enables him to fix broken parts of the game world.
Rad Rodgers has the look and feel of a classic side-scroller, but the developers make brilliant use of the beautifully designed, lush backgrounds to enhance the visual appeal of the game. Both the backgrounds and the character designs are great and have a fun, retro look to them. Some of the best graphic moments of the game are the glitch environments which are puzzles that the player needs to solve in order to move forward in the level.
The gameplay is simple, but effective. It uses a simple button style that is perfect for the Nintendo Switch. In order to complete each level, the player must find four pieces of a cog. Moving throughout the level can be a little trying with some elements like moving platforms being a problem at many points. Beyond that, the game has a lot of fun play moments when running and gunning through enemies.
Rad Rodgers is a casual game play experience. It’s a fun throwback kind of story that will attract gamers and can sustain extended play.
