One of Stephen King’s scariest stories is getting a sequel coming to Paramount Plus.

According to an exclusive in Deadline, Paramount Players is developing a sequel to the 2019 remake of the King classic for Paramount’s streaming service.

The studio has tapped director Lindsey Beer to helm the sequel that will premiere on Paramount Plus. Beer has also written the latest script based on the draft by Jeff Buhler.

Pet Semetary tells the story of the Creed family who move into a new home only to have their lives forever altered by tragedy. When the family patriarch finds a burial ground behind his home with the power to bring back the dead, he must make a harrowing decision. The 2019 film put a twist on the classic story and details of the sequel are yet unknown.

Beer was a writer for the Netflix series Sierra Burgess Is A Loser as well as Godzilla vs Kong. She is also the screenwriter for Transformers: The Last Knight and the recently released Chaos Walking starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley. She is currently writing the screenplay for a live action version of the Disney classic Bambi.
