The Rundown: A world where genetic engineering is the norm will find the seeds of rebellion growing within its system.

The Order is the preeminent force in the galaxy and anyone who does not meet its standards is deemed nonessential and hunted by its forces. A lesson a young girl discovers when her world is constantly upended and she is forced to run with her mother until tragedy strikes.

At the same time, those who serve the Order vie for status and position. Even they become subject to its rigid dogma about who can be what they want. Inside and outside of the systems, the seeds of rebellion and outrage are beginning to grow.

The Story: Starlin crafts a wonderfully original and engaging story in this first issue. There are so many deep and interesting layers to the story and the characters that I found myself reading it multiple times to immerse myself in this world and the complicated narrative being created within it. The character moments are filled with nuance and subtlety and I want to know more about this world, its secrets and the intricacies of the story that is unfolding.

The Art: Morales delivers some beautifully detailed and stylish art throughout the issue. The visuals are vibrant and evocative. There are some suggestive images within the story, but they are necessary for the context of the scene they appear in.
