The Rundown: Duncan and Gran are going to need some help to find Arthur and his knights before they lay waste to the country.
Duncan finally grows a pair and starts to fight back, giving Gran enough time to slow down the undead knights with a special explosive device designed for supernatural threats. With room and time to breathe, Gran informs her grandson that they will need someone to aid them on their quest. Someone with a knowledge of History that can help them navigate to the locations they need to get to in order to stop Arthur.
Fortunately for them both, Duncan was just on a date with a woman that fits that description.
After heading to Rose’s home, Duncan’s Gran convinces the young lady to come with them with her charm and a loaded hand gun. When they unlock a mystery that will open the woman’s eyes to a brand new world, Duncan and Gran find themselves diving deeper into the mystery and Gran decides to take some extreme action to stop a new quest that could destroy everything.
The Story: Each issue hooks the reader with a tight, energetic and exciting story that draws you in with both adventure and humor. Kieron Gillen has created a fun ride with this series and the characters are what make it so engaging. Gran is fantastic and her rapport with both Duncan and Rose is fun to see. Her entire dynamic is entertaining and I would love to see more adventures featuring her if he decides to flesh out the story because there is a lot there. Even the ending concludes with a moment of tension, adventure and humor.
The Art: Dan Mora’s art is fantastic. It’s beautifully detailed and fills each panel with energy.
