The Rundown: Miss Truesdale continues to learn more about her mysterious past life.

Miss Truesdale has returned from Paris and her staff is worried about her mental state. At the same time, she continues to think about her past life as a warrior in Hyperborea and the violence that leads to her next adventure.

When she is released from her cell, she is just in time to witness her friend become a sacrifice to a powerful entity. One that will send her on a mission of vengeance against the sorcerer who killed her friend and his army of dead gladiators.

The Story: Mignola continues to create a compelling and engaging world for the characters in this issue. I love the connections to other works in Mignola’s pantheon and the call back to Hellboy was great. I love the slow burn of this series and the revelations being made within it as well as the action and adventure elements that permeate the story.

The Art: Lonergan delivers some great art throughout the issue. The visual style is fantastic and I loved the contrast in imagery between the present and the past.
