M. Night Shyamalan Announces Split/Unbreakable Sequel

I am incredibly excited for this news that came over the wires and I will attempt to explain what the announcement of this new film is without spoiling the twist at the end of last year’s Split for anyone who hasn’t seen it.

It was announced today by Split director M. Night Shyamalan that he has been writing and will direct a sequel to his smash hit 2000 film Unbreakable. Regarded as one of his best films, Unbreakable was an unconventional superhero film that featured exceptional performances from Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. Seventeen years later, his last film Split featured a kidnapper named Kevin Wendle Crumb, who catches the attention of one of the main characters from Unbreakable.

The new film, titled Glass, will feature the return of Bruce Willis as David Dunn, Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Prince/Mr. Glass and James McAvoy as Crumb. Universal has released a logline for the film. If you have not seen Split, I suggest you go see it and come back or skip over this part.

“Following the conclusion of SPLIT, GLASS finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Prince emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.”

Glass is set for release January 18, 2019.
