The Rundown: An absentee father goes looking for his missing daughter on the eve of the world’s end.

Dr. Ben Caewood has missed a lot in his family life including the birth of his daughter and the tragic death of his wife. While he felt the loss deeply, his work took priority over everything including his little girl who grew up with nannies. Ben’s absence was due to his work creating a fleet of ships that would transport the population of Earth off the planet before it ends. Twenty four hours before the launch of the final vessel to leave, Ben begins a desperate search for his daughter.

After learning some of the dark truth of how the world was able to procure the materials for the ships he designed and built, Ben enlists the help of an elite team to travel to Chicago to find her with the clock ticking. Unfortunately, the people who decided to stay behind will be one of the many threats they face in their mission. When a mishap forces their transport to land in the woods, Ben and the team sent to help him will have to make some tough decisions with little time left.

The Story: Guggenheim crafts an incredibly interesting and tension filled first issue with this story. The premise is promising and intriguing as it showcases some deeply flawed people trying to do what they feel is right. The countdown adds some great tension to the story and the unknown reason for why humans need to leave is a compelling mystery I want to see explored. This is a great first issue that hooked me and kept me intrigued.

The Art: Ferigato delivers some fantastic visuals in this issue. There are great details throughout the panel and it is compelling to have the story told from Ben’s point of view.
