The Rundown: The remaining heroes find what might be the key to freeing everyone from the control of Knull, but that key will need a strong defense.

Knull has cut a path of destruction across the galaxy as he headed to Earth and now that he’s here, he has taken control of friend and foe alike as he hunts for young Dylan and his father Eddie Brock. With Knull’s forces, including the heroes he is controlling getting closer, Spider-Man and the rest of the heroes realize they are going to have to take the fight to Knull and protect Dylan in the process.

As the fight rages in the streets of New York, Dylan manages to free a powerful ally, but alerts Knull to his location in the process. As Knull moves in to claim the boy, the heroes find themselves helpless to stop the creature from taking him until a power familiar to hero and villain alike makes its presence felt. A power that brings fury and thunder in its wake. But will it be enough to stop the forces of Knull or is there something more powerful on the horizon waiting for its time?

The Story: Cates continues to craft an epic story for these characters and manages to engender real emotion from them while treating the reader to great moments of suspense, tension and adventure. The story is filled with great surprises, twists and turns that make the reveals that happen throughout the issue feel genuine and earned. I was impressed with the characters and their interactions as well as how scary Cates has made the character of Knull. I can’t wait to see where this story goes next.

The Art: Ryan Stegman is a master at eliciting mood and tone with the art in this issue. There are great detailed elements throughout, but Stegman has done a great job of bringing the darkness of the story to life in the expressions of the characters. An impressive and beautifully detailed issue.
