HBO is developing a new series being produced by JJ Abrams and Academy Award winner Jordan Peele with the announcement that the pilot episode has found a director.

Director Yann Demange has been brought in to direct the first episode of the new series Lovecraft Country based on the novel by Matt Ruff. Demange is the director of several television series including Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Top Boy and Criminal Justice as well as the films ’71 and the upcoming Matthew McConaughey film White Boy Rick.

The series, written by Misha Green, who will also executive produce, takes place in the Jim Crow era south during the 1950’s. A man named Atticus Black along with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George on a journey through the racist south to search for Atticus’ missing father. Along with the all too human threats they face, the trio must face terrifying monsters that surround the area.

Lovecraft Country will be produced by Jordan Peele, JJ Abrams and Ben Stephenson.
