What do McAfee antivirus and the jungles of Belize have in common? Not much other than the founder and creator of McAfee antivirus now calls the jungle his home and his tale is getting the Hollywood treatment starring Johnny Depp.
Depp is set to star in the film King of the Jungle, based on the Wired article John McAfee’s Last Stand by Joshua Davis. Depp will be playing John McAfee who, after making his fortune selling the McAfee Antivirus, cashes in his fortune, moves to the jungles of Belize and sets up a compound. According to the script, a Wired magazine investigator will travel to the compound to interview McAfee (Depp) and get swept up in the eccentric millionaires world of guns, sex and paranoia.
Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot) will direct the film based on a script by Scott Alexander (American Crime Story) and Larry Karaszewski (Big Eyes).
