The Rundown: An ancient legend returns with a destructive power that will affect Jane’s mission.
As Valkyrie, Jane’s mission is to ferry the dead to their eternal rest. Unfortunately, when a new threat emerges, her mission as both a doctor and the Valkyrie will be put to the test. When dark creatures emerge from beneath the Earth attacking people, Jane realizes that not only are the creatures killing their bodies, but they are taking their souls as well.
Jane will team with other heroes including Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange to fight the creatures on the surface as they spread across the world. When the attack reminds Thor of a memory from his past, he and Jane travel to the depths of the Earth and uncover a dark force at work fueled with Asgardian magic.
The Story: Aaron and Gronbekk provide an entertaining and engrossing story that brings Thor and Jane back together in a way that showcases their connection. The story is tense. The dialogue is fantastic, especially the moments between Jane and Thor and even the lighter, comedic moments are well done. There is a moment in the fight with Tony on comms with Steve as he gathers more heroes that is hilarious to see play out. A great issue that promises something special to come.
The Art: Cafu delivers some beautiful art in this issue. The action is fantastic and all of the art is dynamic, detailed and fantastic.
