The Rundown: The new Wonder Woman is on a mission that will take her into the depths of the underworld.

Yara Flor is the new Wonder Woman and she is on the hunt for a rogue hydra in the Amazon rain forest. After taking on the beast, she prepares to take the prize she needs for the next part of her quest when she is interrupted by a powerful entity who objects to her hunting on her grounds. After exchanging pleasantries, Yara tells her old friend that she is on a mission that will require her to enter the depths of the underworld to free someone important to her.

After offering to help, Yara and Caipora make their way into the land of the dead where they must find passage across the river Styx to confront Hades. Unfortuantely, neither of them has the fee for the ferryman and Yara’s attempts to steal them will wake up the guardian of the gates.

The Story: Jones delivers a fun, action filled and entertaining story with this first issue. The story does a great job of bringing the reader instantly in with engaging characters and dialogue. The story is well paced and interesting in both its premise and tone. I can’t wait to see where this story goes next and what twists and turns it has in store for its characters.

The Art: Jones delivers some beautiful art throughout this issue. There are some beautifully detailed characters in this issue and every panel is filled with great art that draws you in as a reader.
