The Rundown: A scientist finds himself stranded on a strange planet and given a new purpose.

Dr. Tajo Vallar is a father and husband telling his son a story of the universe and the myths he and his fellow scientists are investigating before he leaves for a journey on another world. He and his fellow scientists discover ruins on an alien world and an accident will uncover something dangerous that will leave Vallar alone and in the hands of powerful beings with their own plans for him.

On his home world, his son finds comfort in his sister when a dream forces him awake. On the planet, Vallar travels alone across the surface and is rescued by entities who are about to prepare him for something he cannot imagine.

The Story: Hickman and Spencer craft a dark, engaging and thrilling story in this first issue. I found myself intrigued with the premise of this story as well as the characters and circumstances they find themselves in. There is some great world building in this first issue and I cannot wait to see where this story goes next.

The Art: Huddleston, Del Mundo and Opena create some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I really like how the art styles complement each other in tone and vibe.
