The Netflix animated series Castlevania, based on the popular video game series, will air next month on the streaming service. The producers have picked an amazing cast to inhabit the world of monsters and magic and here is a look at that amazing cast along with some commentary from the show’s producers.


Graham McTavish plays the series titular villain Dracula. McTavish is known for his role as Dwalin in the Hobbit trilogy of films as well as the Saint of Killers on AMC’s Preacher.


Richard Armitage will play the series lead Trevor Belmont. Armitage is another veteran of the Hobbit having played the Dwarf leader Thorin Oakenshield. He can next be seen in the film Oceans Eight.

James Callis plays Alucard. Callis is best known for his role as Gaius Baltar on Battlestar Galactica and on the SyFy series 12 Monkeys.


Alejandro Reynoso plays the character Sypha Belnades. Reynoso is known for her role as Flora on the animated series Winx Club.


Emily Swallow plays the character Lisa on Castlevania. Swallow is known for her roles on the series Supernatural and How to Get Away With Murder.


Matt Frewer plays The Bishop. Frewer is a veteran of television and film with roles in movies like Watchmen and television series like Orphan Black and Timeless.


Tony Amendola plays The Elder. Amendola is another screen veteran with roles in films like The Mask of Zorro and series like Once Upon A Time.


Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.

Castlevania premieres on Netflix July 7th
