Streaming service Netflix is greenlighting a new film starring three of the biggest stars in the world.

According to an exclusive in Deadline, Dwayne Johnson (Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw, Jumanji: The Next Level), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman 1984, Death on the Nile) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool 2, 6 Underground) will team up for the globe spanning heist film Red Notice.

Netflix was in early negotiations for the Rawson Marshall Thurber written and directed action film, but the film ultimately went to Universal in a bidding war. After delivering a script and budget, the studio seemed to back off the project giving Netflix the opportunity to step in and take the project.

Johnson weighed in on the Netflix deal praising the streaming service in a statement saying; “I admire the ambition of Netflix to become one of the biggest movie studios in the world,” Johnson said. “Their original content generates critical acclaim and invites full collaboration on every level of production. Their unbridled enthusiasm for Red Notice is equally matched by their commitment to entertaining audiences on an international scale.”

Red Notice was originally scheduled to premiere in theater November 2020. No word on whether that release date has changed, but we will continue to follow this star studded production as it moves forward.
