The Rundown: Sophie finds another member of the party among a group of adventurers.

Standing on the walls of the fortress at Southern Angria, Sophie watches as more people gather who claim that they are the “chosen ones” of their own stories. Frustrated in her inability to find the one person she needs to find among the ranks, she makes another deal after leaving the wall and walking among them. She discovers that the person she was looking for is there and this one is Chuck’s child.
Sophie discovers that Chuck’s son Callum and to make matters worse, she discovers that he might be exponentially worse than Chuck. After tricking the city guards into bringing them in along with several others, Sophie introduces him to the others before the gods she is bound to begin to tempt her with the next part of her quest.
The Story: Gillen continues to craft a thrilling, engaging story in this issue. There are so many great character moments throughout the issue and I continue to love the world building in this story. Gillen does a great job of seeding the world with interesting characters while also crafting great drama between this group of relative strangers brought together for this quest. I love the shifting dynamics within the story as well as Sophie’s determination to return home. I also love how Callum comes out of the gate as a potentially bigger antagonist than anything the world of Die can throw at these characters.
The Art: Hans delivers stunning art throughout the issue. I love the visual style as well as the character designs and look of the world.
