The Rundown: The story of the ruler of the Phantom Realm is revealed.

The year is 1992 and an elite group of soldiers moves through the jungle to bring down the villainous Lord Slyther. Unable to breach his base, Commander Thunderfang calls in the only two men who can help them, the Biggle Brothers.

Crash and Bash Biggle fly in on a chopper and the brothers immediately get to work on opening the doors of the fortress. Slyther sends his main enforcer Sergeant Mendoza to stop the brothers before they breach his base. As she leaves the base to fight, Slyther begins to escape leaving Mendoza hung out to dry and leaving a calling card that will make Bash Biggle swear revenge.

The Story: MacLean creates a thrilling, fun love letter to the early nineties with some fun callbacks to 80’s video games and cartoons with its characters and premise. There are obvious homages to games like Contra and shows like GI Joe and I really enjoyed the off the wall action and adventure in this issue. It’s definitely a fun story with some great over the top moments.

The Art: Ziritt creates some interesting and entertaining art throughout the issue. I really liked it a lot.
