The Rundown: Prince Wayne meets the Titans and has a run-in with the Al-Ghuls.

The story opens with a scene of horrific violence conducted by the House of El. Later, Bruce awakens at the Kent farm and the family learns something unusual. Then he is introduced to the Titans. After which he has a deep conversation with the Kents. Soon, the Al-Ghuls show up with the League of Shades an all-out brawl begins. Finally, with the help of the Kents and the Titans, Bruce makes a significant decision. Elsewhere, In the Kingdom of Storms, John Constantine is met by someone unexpected.

The Story: Taylor continues his innovative reworking of the DC Universe by re-introducing the Titans to readers, and I love how this chapter places Richard Grayson in a position to join the ranks of his traditional second family. As Prince Wayne re-examines everything he’s ever known, he is surrounded by new allies and his faithful Robin. I’m interested in the connections he’s making and the mention of a favorite member of the Justice League is intriguing. This new world is so broad and full of potential and Taylor’s determination to make the most of it is very exciting. I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

The Art: This beautifully crafted issue features intense action sequences and emotionally charged panels depicting heartfelt character interaction. The artwork is presented in a manner that feels Medieval and perfectly suited to the mood of the story. I was also impressed by the level of detail and cared used in both foreground and background visuals.
