The Rundown: Daredevil gets some unexpected help and the murder case tests the new detective on the force.

Matt thinks back on his past as he finds himself fighting for his life in his present against Omen. As the villain manages to get the upper hand, Matt gets some unexpected help from the Owl who manages to drive off the killer while taking Daredevil hostage. At the same time, the two detectives assigned to the serial killer case deal with their own friction.

Back on campus, Matt’s new benefactor has a meeting with the faculty and reveals that he has some darker intent when he is grilled about a new program. As Daredevil escapes from Owl and continues his hunt for Omen, the detectives return to the crime scene and find themselves ambushed by the killer himself.

The Story: Phillips continues to craft some amazing conflict in this arc. Not only do I love the internal conflict Matt faces in the story, but also the side stories with the detectives and what’s happening on campus. There are a lot of moving parts in this arc and Phillips does an amazing job of keeping them compelling, engaging and entertaining. I continue to be intrigued with the villain in this arc and cannot wait to see where his story goes next.

The Art: Garbett delivers stunning art throughout the issue. I love the visual style of this issue and how the imagery captures the tone and mood of the story.
