The highly successful and popular late 90’s anime Cowboy Bebop is being developed as a live action series according to Variety.

Cowboy Bebop takes place in the year 2071 after a catastrophe involving a hyperspace gateway forces humanity to leave Earth and colonize nearby rocky planets and moons. When the crime rate rises, the Inter Solar System Police devise a plan to create a bounty system where bounty hunters, known as Cowboys are allowed to hunt down and bring in criminals for a fee. Spike Spiegel and his crew of the starship Bebop are bounty hunters for hire. Often Spike and his crew end up turning simple contracts into huge problems and the sins of their collective and individual pasts often put them in even greater jeopardy.

Sunset Inc, the studio behind the original anime, will executive produce the live action series with Midnight Radio. Writer Chris Yost will write the adaptation. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Yost is a veteran animation writer for series like Wolverine and the X-Men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as well as his screenplay for Thor: The Dark World and co-creating the character X-23.

No casting or network information has been announced just yet, but those two things tend to go hand in hand and when I know something, you’ll know it too.
