Before it was published, the satirical comic book SECOND COMING was denounced as blasphemous, offensive, and outrageous. An online petition circulated. A news network decried the comic. The comics creators were released from their original contracts from DC Comics. And then, after it was published by AHOY Comics, a funny thing happened.

People read it. And people liked it. A lot.

“Profane, heartfelt and hilarious. A modern Life of Brian. Lots of great throwaway details, like how the food court in Heaven has discontinued fast food chains.”―Patton Oswalt

“Powerful.”―ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

“No one captures the lyrical disconnect between real personalities in fantasy bodies like Mark Russell. SECOND COMING is beautifully drawn and hilariously blunt. It’s ribald, cranky, and warm at the same time, and it might be my new favorite thing.”―Gail Simone

“The world’s most dangerous comic and the most lovely… Part satire and part philosophical commentary on the state of modern Christianity, the history of its texts, and idea of religious belief in general — all of it hilarious.”―COMICS BEAT

“There is quite a bit of humor in this satirical series about Jesus Christ rooming with an alien superhero named Sunstar. … There is also a lot of heart.”― NEW YORK TIMES

New York Times bestselling writer Mark Russell and acclaimed artists Richard Pace and Leonard Kirk have created one of the most talked-about comics of the last 20 years—and now it will be released in book form for the first time, featuring an all new introduction by Patton Oswalt. In SECOND COMING, God commands Earth’s mightiest superhero, Sunstar, to accept Jesus Christ as his roommate and teach Him how to use His power more forcefully. Jesus, shocked at the way humans have twisted his message over two millennia, vows to straighten it out.

“Making Second Coming has been a labor of love and I hope it shows,” said Mark Russell.”I’m thankful for everyone who waited out the controversy to make up their own minds about this comic. We have a lot more to say with Second Coming and I can’t wait for them to read it.”

SECOND COMING will be released in comic book stores on February 26th, 2020 and in bookstores on March 10, 2020.
