The Rundown: With the death of empathy, the final Earth in the multiverse might be next.

On Earth-J the destructive power that caused the destruction of the planet rages across Washington D.C. With everything in chaos, President Rowe is pulled from the planet leaving everything and everyone that he loves behind. A similar situation happened to the rest of the presidents and each of them found themselves on Earth-Z with new powers and a new purpose. As the Commanders gather to deal with the latest threat, they realize the implications of having empathy dead in a country teetering on the brink of division.

When another Crisis Alert calls the team away, Scarlet finds herself in Philadelphia looking for clues to what happened to empathy and who murdered him. After finding herself distracted by the plight of two grandmothers looking for their missing grandson, she uses her powers to help them find some peace. At the same time, Sumaira will try a dangerous tactic to bring empathy back.

The Story: There are a lot of interesting ideas at play in this storyline and Steve Orlando does a great job of answering some of the questions from the first issue while also expanding the mystery. I continue to be impressed with this concept and its characters as the concept reflects some harsh realities in a fantasy setting. An interesting read worthy of continuing.

The Art: Davide Tinto delivers some stunning art in this issue. Not only is the action vibrant and full of detail, but the characters look great as well. The panels are framed brilliantly and progress in a way that ramps up the suspense.
