The biggest stumbling block to The Walt Disney Company acquiring 21st Century Fox’s movie and television assets has been removed.

Comcast has officially bowed out of the bidding war to acquire those assets leaving Disney and their $71.3 billion dollar bid as the only potential buyer for Fox. According to a statement from Comcast stating;

“Comcast does not intend to pursue further the acquisition of the Twenty-First Century Fox assets and, instead, will focus on our recommended offer for Sky,” the company said in a statement today. Brian L. Roberts, Comcast CEO, added: “I’d like to congratulate Bob Iger and the team at Disney and commend the Murdoch family and Fox for creating such a desirable and respected company.”

Disney still has to finalize the deal with Fox, but this means that Marvel Comics properties like X-Men and The Fantastic Four are one step closer to making their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
