Cloverfield and its sequel 10 Cloverfield Lane were both successful at the box office. A third movie in the “Cloverfield” universe has been made and it looks like Netflix is looking to acquire it for their streaming service.

The film, which has been called both “Cloverfield Station” and “God Particle” is considered another loose sequel to Cloverfield and it is produced by JJ Abrams Bad Robot. The film, directed by Julius Onah features a group of scientists on board a space station who conduct an experiment on board involving a particle accelerator that causes the Earth to vanish. Cut off from home, the scientists must deal with a possible alien threat while they fight for survival.

The film stars David Oyelowo (Selma), Ellizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Chris O’Dowd (Get Shorty), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Black Mirror), Ziyi Zhang (The Crossing) and Daniel Bruhl (The Alienist).

The fact that the film’s release date has been moved multiple times by Paramount might be the reason why Netflix is in the running to acquire the film and release it. At this point it’s mostly speculation.
