“Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep” continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.
Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.
Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor) continues to be haunted by the ghosts of his past in this big screen sequel to the classic Stephen King story The Shining.
Doctor Sleep will take audiences back to the Overlook Hotel of young Danny’s (Roger Dale Floyd) memories as the trauma of his youth shapes the man he will become.
Danny faces a manifestation of his terror in the film scheduled to open November 8th.
Danny will return to the Overlook to take on the new threat to young Abra Stone and every child that shares the gift of the Shining.
Danny will meet and befriend a girl with the most powerful Shine he’s ever seen. Abra Stone (Kyleigh Curran) will become a target of the True Knot and will have to out-think the Knot’s immortal leader Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson) if she’s going to stay alive.
Abra will have to convince her father David (Zackary Momoh) that the threat of the True Knot is real. She will convince him the only way she knows how.
Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson) is the immortal leader of the True Knot. After the brutal murder of a young boy to steal his essence, she and the True get the attention of a young Abra Stone.
Rose wants the Shine that lives inside Abra. The True keep their immortality by draining the essence or Steam from those with the Shine and Abra has the brightest shine Rose has ever seen. Rose will lead the True on a hunt for Abra that will bring them into the path of Danny Torrance.
Rose will do whatever it takes to capture Abra and their conflict will bring everyone back to the Overlook Hotel.
The True Knot gathers to take Steam including Grampa Flick (Carel Struycken), Crow Daddy (Zahn McClarnon), Barry (Robert Longstreet) and the newest member Snakebite Andi (Emily Alyn Lind).
Doctor Sleep opens in theaters November November 8, 2019.
