The classic Douglas Adams science fiction novel The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is coming to television from the executive producer of Lost, Jack Ryan and the upcoming Locke & Key.
According to an exclusive in Deadline, Cuse and Wonder Woman writer Jason Fuchs are developing the series for streaming service HULU from ABC Signature and Cuse’s production company Genre Arts. Cuse and Fuchs are fans of the iconic British novel that started as a comedic radio series on the BBC.
Cuse and Fuchs will write, executive produce and showrun the proposed series. Fuchs is currently writing the pilot script. The series follows Arthur Dent, a hapless Englishman who finds himself on a series of adventures across the galaxy after the destruction of Earth by the bureaucratic Vogon race.
The last time Hitchhiker’s Guide was on the screen was in 2005 starring Martin Freeman, Sam Rockwell, Zooey Deschanel and Alan Rickman.
