The Rundown: The children learn to use their weapons as they plan to rescue Connor’s grandmother.

The kids not only learn that Connor’s grandmother has been kidnapped, but that the man holding her and the scabbard they seek is the President of the United States. Connor refuses to allow his friends to put their lives in danger to rescue his grandmother, but the others insist on working together as a team and begin their training with their new weapons.

The kids learn that their months of training only equal days in the real world and they prepare for the next part of their plan as they face their final challenge in a maze protected by the Green Knight. At the end, they put their plan into motion and Fel walks right into the oval office to confront the President. A man she has a personal connection to.

The Story: Things are moving pretty fast in this series and I like the energy of this story. Taylor creates some fun and interesting moments for the kids while also planting the seeds of some mysteries to come. Connor’s noble sacrifice and the kids coming together as a team was a little hokey, but forgivable in context to the bigger story and I really liked the reveal at the end of the issue.

The Art: Di Nicuolo creates some beautifully detailed and visually stylish art throughout the issue.
