Azrael and his forces have killed Batman’s closest ally and Barbara is on a mission of vengeance. Taking Bruce to task for his role in events, Dick goes after her as Batman disappears to pay a visit to Leslie Thompkins, Harley and her twins.

In the midst of checking on them, Leslie tells Batman about a mission Alfred undertook with her when he started his crime fighting career. A mission that would take them to mysterious location and an even more mysterious meeting with a familiar face who also happens to be a member of the Order of St Dumas.

At the same time, Barbara has found Jean Paul’s location and she enlists Bullock to take them down. With Batman and the rest of GTO in pursuit, the curse of the Waynes will visit another person close to Bruce.

The Story: Murphy is systematically and methodically tearing down Batman’s world piece and piece and I am engrossed. The secrets and lies surrounding Bruce are fascinating to see unfold and this deconstruction of the character and his mythos is engaging. The dialogue flows naturally and I was riveted by what I was reading. Everything in this issue pops off the page from the passion to the tragedy. A great read from start to finish.

The Art: Murphy’s art is as detailed, intricate and deliberate as the story is. Brilliant visuals. I love the minor details sprinkled throughout.
