The Rundown: Failsafe ramps up his war on crime as Bruce looks for an escape.

The new Batman is making the streets of Gotham safer, but it is instilling fear in the hearts of all citizens as he and Robin take out Killer Croc and others in their war against crime. A war that will have not only Spoiler confront Damian over, but will cause Barbara and Dick to scramble to get advice from the Justice League about.

At the same time, Bruce finds himself at the mercy of one of his mentors who Failsafe has put in charge of Blackgate with Joker serving as his cellmate. When Punchline is delivered to the prison, Bruce uses the opportunity to not only discover something new about his captor, but make a play at escape.

The Story: Zdarsky crafts an entertaining and thrilling story in this issue. I enjoy the mystery in the issue and how Bruce is at odds with his mentor throughout. I still find myself at odds with the Joker portion of the story and how it continues to take the mystery away from the character. That being said, it’s an intriguing story with some great action and interesting moments.

The Art: Jimenez delivers some beautiful art throughout the issue. The character designs are great and the action is visually brilliant.
