The Rundown: Batman takes on his Failsafe who has a new mind and a new mission.

Outside of Gotham, Batman wakes up to discover that Zur has taken over the body of Failsafe and transferred not only his mind, but the minds of the other Zur’s from across the multiverse. Deciding that Bruce’s mission is over and that he will take over as Batman, Zur discovers that Bruce isn’t ready to retire and an epic and destructive chase ensues.

A chase that will push Bruce to his limits as he uses every trick he has to take on the device using the darkest parts of his mind. A chase that will lead to a revelation from one of Batman’s greatest foes.

The Story: A sharp, thrilling and action packed issue that doesn’t let up on the suspense. Zdarsky delivers great action in the issue and a tone that is filled with tension. Bruce versus Zur has been often chaotic for me as a reader, but the dynamic in this issue works perfectly with the overall theme of Bruce starting to feel his age in both his actions and planning. I really liked the end of this issue a lot and look forward to seeing how the character is connected to Zur and his plans.

The Art: Jimenez delivers great art throughout the issue. The visuals capture the blistering action and thrills of the story beautifully.
