The Rundown: The Batgirls take a day off, then later go on the hunt for The Tutor.

The Batgirls are spending time at home when Barbara suggests taking action in regard to The Tutor. After formulating a plan, Cassie and Steph take the day off and spend time exploring their neighborhood. Later, the duo enacts Barbara’s plan while being guided by Oracle. After a deadly confrontation, the two Batgirls capture an enemy and take him away for professional treatment. Finally, a new villain emerges.

The Story: Cloonan delivers some big laughs and exciting action in this fun chapter. I really like watching the development of Steph and Cassie’s friendship and their random adventures are pure entertainment. This episode also features a witty narration by the author regarding the Batgirls that perfectly matches the mood of the tale. And as always, Barbara acts as the grounding figure that is both motherly and amusing. The ending reveal was well done, and I can’t wait to find out what’s next for the trio of superheroes.

The Art: The illustration uses a modern styling that focuses on character form and expression. The drawings are detailed, and each panel has interesting background and foreground artwork that captures the eye. Overall, I found this issue to be both transportive and appealing.
