The Rundown: The Batgirls search for clues regarding The Hill Ripper’s identity and have a deadly encounter with Killer Moth.

In the opener, a mysterious character has an interaction with Killer Moth as recent events are recounted on a popular podcast. Elsewhere, Cassie and Steph meet a new friend while researching a coded letter. Afterwards the two Batgirls have a confrontation with Killer Moth. Meanwhile, Barbara meets with Commissioner Montoya to discuss the Hill Ripper case and later discusses the results with her lover. The next day, the Batgirls are visited by a dear friend who offers her assistance. Then later the group makes an interesting discovery. Finally, in the closer, The Hill Ripper’s identity is revealed.

The Story: The second chapter of this storyline is fun and interesting. Not only do two of the Batgirls have cool romantic interactions, we are reintroduced to an old friend of Barbara’s, as well as a surprising but familiar villain. As always, I enjoy the narration, especially the pop culture nods sprinkled throughout the issue. Here’s looking at you well place coffee mug. I also really like watching the relationship between Barbara and Dick. Overall, I really like where this story is going, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

The Art: The illustrations are done in a modern comic book styling. The line work and coloring are youthful and energetic. And I found the attention to detail provides for a connective reading experience.
