Mera has awakened from her coma and she and the rest of the kingdom are preparing for her wedding to her regent Vulko. While there are many who still think Mera is in a coma, the Queen herself readies to make an announcement to everyone gathered for the ceremony including representatives from across the seven seas.

When Orm makes his appearance at the ceremony, he prepares to make his move for the throne when Mera appears and makes an announcement that will rock the entire kingdom. An announcement that will not only throw the kingdom into turmoil, but will force Aquaman to come out of hiding to stop a plot Orm cannot wait to hatch.

The Story: Stunning and full of surprises, this is a new Mera with a new purpose and I’m here for it. Kelly Sue Deconnick brilliantly moves all the players into position to deliver a story that is wrought with tension and intrigue. There are some awesome moments throughout and the cliffhanger at the end of the issue sets up what looks like an action packed next issue.

The Art: Miguel Mendonca delivers some awesome art throughout this issue. All of the characters from the leads to the background characters look fantastic. The panels are beautifully framed and composed to to match the intensity and tone of the story.
