It’s been a year since Spider-Man trapped Scorpio in the Zodiac Dimension and that year is running out quickly. In a secret facility in the Atlantic, two mercenaries enter to steal something highly valuable only to have the Zodiac Key spring to life and escape, causing them to change their plans. Spider-Man is lamenting the fact that he can’t just throw money at the problem and fix it and Mockingbird is playfully ribbing him for it. When Scorpio emerges, he is trapped in a containment beam by Max Modell, but he escapes knowing he only has an hour left to come up with a plan before his knowledge of the future catches up with the present.

As the mercenaries continue their fight through the underwater vault, Spider-Man and Mockingbird track Scorpio to Big Ben and attempt to stop him. With time running out, Spidey must rely on a desperate gamble to try and stop the terrorist from unleashing his latest plan. Unbeknownst to Peter, the mercenaries escape and deliver one of the deadliest weapons imaginable to one of Spider-Man’s greatest foes.

Also, an old friend makes a surprise appearance in London looking for the wall crawler, but barely misses him.

I like this straightforward nature of this issue and how it ties into and wraps up another event in Peter’s life. Slott and Gage so a good job of keeping the overall feeling light as the moments taking place outside of the Spider-Man storyline get more tense. The contrast works and it makes the reveal at the end even more interesting to get to. Without spoiling anything for those who haven’t read the issue yet, the reveal at the end is something fans of this particular villain will find scary and fun to see play out. Immonen’s art continues to impress and I especially loved the scenes of the Zodiac Key in action. A consistently fun read.
