Marisol Leone finally emerges from the shadows to make her presence felt at the Daily Planet. The new owner has a lot of plans for the fledgling newspaper and her offer to give Perry whatever he needs is too good to be true. Especially when she tells the publisher that she wants exactly what he does when it comes to the paper’s editorial direction.

At the same time, a fight between Superman and a new monster reveals that the Man of Steel can no longer trust his allies at STAR labs. His investigation into Leviathan takes a turn when he discovers that STAR Labs is continuing to conduct experiments that are putting lives at risk. Thorn has another run in with the Red Cloud and this one might be her last and after meeting Leone himself, Clark relays his suspicions to Lois right before a new face makes a splash in Metropolis.

The Story: Brian Michael Bendis has done a great job of evolving the different threads of the stories surrounding Lois and Clark. Touching on the Leviathan storyline as well as the Secret Mafia story that’s been building with the introduction of Red Cloud and Marisol Leone have allowed the world of Superman to become broader without fundamentally changing what is interesting and entertaining about the character. I really enjoyed this issue a lot especially the dialogue between Lois and Clark as well as Clark and Perry. I’m invested in where this story goes next and really loved all the possibilities that came with the ending.

The Art: Szymon Kudranski delivers some beautiful art in this issue. I love the way he depicts the characters as well as the composition of the moments in the story.
